What's On Your Wrist?

Here is my collection. I wear the far left one pretty much when im lounging around. The middle two i wear for work everyday (depending how what suit i wear) or when i go out dressed nicely. The far right one i wear at Car shows, driving events etc. I plan on getting a brown one soon as well. All Tag Heuer.

Love the 2 on the right, nice collection.

I love my Movado its my favourite watch ever, simple, classy and thin. I hate when watches catch on everything. my Movado was over 1000 bucks though.

I also have a bulova that I really like in 2 tone. im a big fan of classic yellow gold so whatever I wear will have some gold. the bulovas are really nice for 100-500 dollar range.

I would love a breitling but the one I want is 15k and ill never justify that kinda cake on a watch. I think their cheapest watch starts at 4k kinda like rolex.

I won a watch at a golf tournament that I am thinking I will give away. It’s funny how hard it is to sell a watch. I put it online for sale at half the retail price and no takers.

Post it here.

FastEddie, nice collection there. They’re all nice lookin Tags while still being pretty unique and different.

Watchuseek is probably the best online market place for second hand sales of watches. I’d post it up there.

All jewelry is kinda like that. A watch with a retail price tag of $6,995 could usually be picked up for under $5k at a nice jewler, so that means the used market is only worth $3-4k in very good condition.

Thanks Maddog. Each was a present from my wife on different occasions. Saki what kind of watch is it? Would love to see pics.

Nice movado badtoyz, I find them to be very classy.

Looks like we might need to start a tattoo thread too? haha

lol ya ive got a whole bunch ofem. that’s the start of a cherry blossom tree. my whole left arm is kind of a tribute to my daughter. she had a heart transplant at 7 mos old, the tree represents strength for girls and the blossoms represent how quick life can be.

ya im a really big fan of Movado and the classic all black face. id like to get one with a black leather strap gold trimmed with the diamond for 12. it has a bit of a thicker profile but I still like it.

I’m not a collector by any stretch, but I did finally cave and buy a nice watch about 2 years back. Nothing super special, just a quartz 300m Seamaster.

^ really like Omegas, especially vintage ones.

The story behind the speedmaster selection for NASA is cool.

My GF bought me a Microsoft Band. I do like the heart rate monitor and a few of it’s cool features. The app is pretty cool too (surprisingly).

Takes too long to charge (90 mins) and is ‘water resistant’ as opposed to ‘water proof’ but other than that, I do like it.

Pre-ordered the Apple Watch. Sport band (black) with the larger screen size. Expected June delivery. I’m kind of excited, but also a little worried that I’m wasting my money. It just looks like such a cool gadget, and I love gadgets.

the good news is that after a few weeks, if you’re sick of having to charge your watch every night, and don’t find the product very useful since you’re not op room doctor, a bank robber or cow inseminator (the only jobs I can think of where you can’t just use your hands to check your phone for messages) you can always sell it for 90% of what you paid for it since Apple protects prices very well.

^^ LOL thanks for the reassurance, sak!!

I don’t get it. Why are you afraid to break it? You don’t even work in construction or whatever. You have a desk job.

the financial consequences of carrying a couple thousand dollars on your wrist and it going wrong are pretty disconcerting

reality is nothing will happen, but the fear of something happening is tough to overcome.

Here’s another reality…parents will often drive their kids to school to ‘keep them safe’, because they worry about their kids getting abducted etc. Reality? It’s more likely their child will be injured or killed in a car crash on the way to school than it is they will be abducted.

Tell 100 parents that, and they will not change their approach. They will continue doing the thing that is statistically unnecessary, and in fact more dangerous, because overcoming their perception is just too much.

Relatedly, I was on the fence about getting the Apple warranty for the watch, but I guess it’s worth purchasing. From what I’ve read, though, the watch is pretty durable - and the build quality is supposedly top notch for all three versions.

Xmas gift. Simple. I like it
