Good post Justin, get a +1 from me.
yeah, you can just set it to be ‘on’, set the parameters for time/distance and speed/distance, and once you stop, it resets, then once you get going it starts recording data. Don’t need to touch anything. It will measure every time you go through a stated range and record all instances. i.e. 60-130…there will be half a dozen recorded by the end of a day at the strip (or how many passes you make where you get to 130) and it will show them on there in the software. Do a couple of passes where you shift into 3rd early so that you don’t hit 60 in second and then shift into 3rd as part of the recording time.
The data will look funny, because you’ll have a few 1/4 mile times that are 55 seconds long (when you stop, then drive 1320 feet) etc. but it will capture and not miss anything. It will also show you elevation change in the software, so you can see if the track is flat/downhill/uphill. The 60-130 guys seem to have a rule that a 2% downhill grade is ok…and not shockingly they all run on roads that are almost 2% downhill. I think it’s kind of a hokey rule.
+1 for justin.
Thanks guys, Im tired of the back and forth bickering, when we all share a common goal, very fast audis. We should have been helping each other out instead of arguing this whole time, maybe one of us would be in the 10’s already lol. This season is looking like it’s going to be an epic one, between all these tial cars, doms car, my car, chris green’s car is really stepping it up too. Should be crazy. I can’t wait to see how my car does on 60-130, thanks for the info!
I will be there hi-fiving you at the time-slip booth. You can use my v-box anytime.
I’ll be able to tell you what my PJK04 car runs soon.
how soon is soon? Seems about 5-6 EPL tuned guys were saying on here 3-5 months ago that they would hit the strip…but now it’s June and nothing. No tial guys other than the JFONZ tuned tonyaiello car that went 11.1. No AMD guys at all. Weird.
anyway, just bumped this up…since we have a quarter mile database across all platforms from B5 to B6 to B7 to B8 including over 150 top times…I noticed that ONLY TWO of the cars on the list are EPL tuned. One is NYCVR6 and the other is someone with a K04 B5 that ran low 12s.
Has anyone got any other EPL times that I can add to the list???
I’m saying if you think 6 or so cars represent a tuner who has tuned 100s of cars then I would say it is not a fair judgement. It is what is open source info, but I don’t think it accurately represents the whole. What I’m trying to say is, your sample wouldn’t be accepted in statistics.
You think all of the cars you have recorded are all the cars that have gone to the track. a sample of 30 isn’t enough in the scheme of things. There are too many variables. What if there are guys who don’t post? The problem is you have created such a hostile area here a lot of EPL/AMD guys just don’t post. That is one of the many reasons Jason@AMD doesn’t post here. Its just the way it is, be patient and believe, I will run well, I only get mondays off until the end of June, so you will have to wait for me to post up. As for other guys, I don’t blame them for not going, you break shit, plain and simple. Why would they pay money and go out of their way to prove you wrong? I’m doing it for that written apology but not everyone will recieve that…
What I meant by the 1st and 2nd was, those gears didn’t give you the pull that 3rd-6th does. I don’t know how it compares to other cars yet, I haven’t raced anyone seriously. (no the run against the 335 wasn’t me speed shifting or trying to win it was me showing the 335 owner what it felt like).
I hope hunters car rips for him.
no, I’m not talking about just this site dude. I’m talking about here, audizine, audiworld, quattroworld, s4biturbo.net and all the other audi forums over the past 10 years. So now what’s the reason for no fast EPL cars?
as for this ‘apology’ wtf are you talking about? You made some bullshit up. How about this…if you don’t run 10.50 @ 135 or better, you owe me an apology letter and the title for your car, which I will take to a wrecking yard and crush.
I don’t accept your deal. But when I run better than a 10.99, something you said I would never do, to not only me but multiple people, I will have proven you wrong. Thats worth a few axles and a rear end to me. You’re worth proving wrong.
Can you collect how many of the cars that went to the track were EPL cars?
when did I say you will never run 10.99?
the power your car makes it should run 10.99 for fun. I doubt it, but I believe what I actually said a while ago was
a) the 770 cars making 600+ should run 10s @ 135+
b) the 605 500whp cars should run low 11s @ high 120s
And I said if you do b) I would congratulate you. That was when you were making 500 whp, remember?
Now that your car has been tweaked and is making nearly 600 whp, you’re closer to category a) but to be honest if you run 11.40 or lower, I’ll congratulate you and put you on the list happily
That’s what’s funny about you…you don’t realise that I applaud success. Ask TTS…ask jfonz…ask anyone. I will break your balls if you shoot your dyno sheet all over the place, then avoid the strip like the plague. But if you back it up, I’m first to say ‘way to go!’.
I hope the new reality on these forums will turn into the tuners posting dyno sheets but doing so coinceidentally with a quarter mile timeslip that reflects measured performance that is commensurate with the supposed power. That protects all of us from being disappointed by dyno hype and fly by night companies who start showing up and posting pretty graphs (which is the current reality in b5 world sadly. It didn’t used to be that way…the tuners used to love going to the strip and showing off). You know that in almost ALL the other performance car forums, the dyno means fuck all without a timeslip? Isn’t that funny? Not sure why we’re all so fast to believe the dyno.
give me a second.
yeah dude, easily. I have the combined quarter mile databases from all the forums, and can sort by ANYTHING. ECU is one of them. The top 50 B5 S4s have only 2 (two) EPL tuned cars.
I don’t have the washington guys (burningcoals and whoever else) because they didn’t post up their timeslips. That’s common with the EPL guys…they go…they run…then they don’t share the times or timeslips. Odd.
Here’s the entier 150+ audi quarter mile times that have been entered on the list, sorted by EPL tuned cars. (note EPL in the sifter above ECU)
two out of how many is what I’m asking.
here is one quote from you, which is pretty much a kind way of saying I won’t be in the 10s.
there’s 2 EPL cars out of the top 50 B5 S4 times and the fastest was actually a tweaked EPL file (and it was 13th…NYCVR6). Next best was 12.00.
lol I said I’ll be impressed! Nice try dude. I don’t know how you take ‘I’ll be impressed’ to meaning ‘you will never run 10s and I will write an apology letter if you do’
10s is fucking amazing. If you do it, you’ll have blazed a trail for EPL tuned Audis.
There MUST be other EPL tuned cars in the 11s. If you know of any (as I’ve asked on every audi forum on earth) please fowrward the info so I can add them to the list.
I haven’t posted any dyno sheets since i’ve gotten the car back. I only spoke of dyno numbers on AZ and I won’t be posting any of that until I prove you wrong. It is proving you wrong Saki, and it’s proving your “data” wrong. Plain and simple, you are only appeased by 1/4 numbers, I know that. I am saying, your data isn’t everything you think it is worth, I am saying you were wrong to say you didn’t think it would run 10s and you should apologize to EPL and jason@AMD for calling them liars and incompetent.
Get ready for a trail to be blazed! I’ve had multiple people who own and have driven 10 sec cars tell me they think its possible for this to do 10s on pump. I’m not sure if it is, I’m going to try racegas first, then pump. As far as Waterfest goes, I’m bringing Ice and fire exstinguishers filled with CO2 to keep that cool. Plus I’m going to try to chill the fuel and put it in last minute. All the tricks to keep it cold.
