The fuelling comment was based on what TTS, Aviva and APR (on their R8 kit) said. Not sure how JHM is able to do this…and I am comfortable that the other companies are all wondering too!
With respect to JHM’s times run during development, I am not sure you would have had me bet you on what they’d run. Betting against JHM running something has proven to be a move for people who like to lose money (or Cokes)!
+karma. JHM appears to be making over 500 whp with stock injectors and fuel pumps.
Here’s something to consider: JHM’s K04 B5 S4 time that was famous was 11.19 @ 129 with a B5 with every mod done and race gas etc. other than a stock motor (non-built)
Now we have the RS4 within 2 tenths of that and within 2 MPH of that. With a shitty 60’ time. On pump gas.
Thanks SCS4. I have seen that. I live in central CA and all the stations that previously carried higher octane have since stopped some time between 2008-2010. It is few and far between in CA, period.
Even some of the socal locals on that list have since stopped. And that link is no longer working (at least when I tried opening it). Trust me, I’ve researched it a ton.
CA is a nazi state when it comes to emissions and regulation in general.
Pump necessity will depend on many different factors.
A leaner AFR will require less fuel.
Less airflow will require less fuel (You can’t always go off boost numbers, since they can change dramatically depending on the calibration).
The torque curve could also play into the need since the pump is cam driven. The pump moves more fuel the faster your rev the engine since it’s mechanically driven off the cam shafts. This could be the difference between the torque curve produced by the two different style chargers.
Pumps necessity could also be exacerbated by the low pressure fueling system’s inability to keep up in some situations.
In the Mustang world many used Boost-a-pumps to supplement the actual pump… On my old GT normal pressure of 30psi would happen under vacum or normal driving but once you went WOT and boost spiked the BAP kicked in and spiked pressure to 60psi… Probably not applicable here but just thought I would mention it…
I thought about mentioning that a few pages back but didn’t want to pollute the thread with those comparisons… I believe Johnny C has gone better than the 11.37 that is posted online but I am not 100% positive, also not sure of the fuel he runs… I believe Arin would know for sure… At any rate I think the TTRS has the potential given the power that the 5 banger can put out with an upgraded turbo… I won’t go stage III this year but probably next… lol I’m excited to see what the S4 can do with the bigger blower, however I’ll be the first to acknowledge it will take race gas to come anywhere close to the recent times the various RS4 cars are running if it’s at all possible… You know I’ll find out once the blower is released and post results either way…
Amazing stuff guys. How far back is the S5 on the list?
Come on… give us something. You’d no be so mean as to not share something. Would you?
Why are you here? Are you attempting to post in celebration of jhm’s accomplishments by making sure we know about the AMD/EPL whatever else its called this week kit? You’re say congratulations while in the same breath making a point to try and defend the comparison of the results in the favor of the AMD kit.
One would’ve thought thought you’d be a man of your word not to come back and post after your many proclamations saying you wouldn’t return till you actually ran your AMD car, that has apparently been blown up once at the hands of AMD already.
I’ll ask that other members share in my excitement to negitive karma you.
I think the tell tail as to what is really going on would be to get a max reading on the maff sensor. I believe the TTS kit does on average 285-290 grams per second. Dougs was a little better and did around 304 grams per second. Would be good to know what these other kits flow.
Not only the TTRS, but I think the Golf R has the potential to be batshit insane with a built motor.
There was some consternation at APR not getting the new 1740 onto the RS4 (only the B8) but they probably saw this coming. Why compete with JHM in the RS4 world when the kit is this good?
Between the JHM V8 S4’s, the APR TTRS/Golf R, it’s a great time to be a VW/Audi fan…
regarding the comparisons, there’s certainly no problem with comparisons or pollution if it’s done civilly and people don’t get butthurt. If someone comes in and trolls it up, certainly that is met with disdain. However if someone says 'wonder which platform will be quicker once XXX happens. That’s what this site is for.
