The dealership messed up on one of the coolant hoses for the Hiatachi alternator so that is the last thing holding me back from throwing in the SC and turning over the engine. It should be here tomorrow morning so I found other stuff to throw in place like my front BBK.

It is really not that bad since the front end has to come off anyways to pull/drop the engine. Just have to drop the subframe while letting the engine hang on a hook then pull the following parts: alternator, AC compressor, engine mount brackets, and the exhaust manifolds. The driver’s side hard coolant pipe has a tab that is a pain towards the back that I cut off to make life easier.
I don’t know but when I was doing research about ceramic coating there were a lot of referrals for Jet Hot. So I came to the conclusion that Jet Hot is the best and the Eastwood company coating that I used is ok for 90% of applications.
You would not believe how excited I am. There are a few more minor things that I have to iron out before starting it like getting the blower inlet hose on without it rubbing the body. Also there is a hole above and to the right of the M in the JHM logo on that bracket with the pulleys which should have a bolt going through it. Well mine is such an early 2004 (9/2003) that I don’t have that hole so they told me to drill and tap it.
I know from my experience that Jet Hot is completely badass. I had their extreme race coating on a RX-7 rotary turbo manifold (it was actually HPC coating before they were bought out by Jet Hot). I could literally grab one of the runners after driving. They were warm, but not hot. And rotary engines have crazy high EGTs (over 2000 F°).
There was also the added bonus of better spool due to the exhaust gases staying hotter.
If I ever get headers for my car, they will be ceramic coated for sure. Much better than header wrap.
Looking super tough…exciting to see this each step…I csnt believe you got te headers in like that crazy with no room to spare. Tight fit…sucks ur going to have this running in the crazy hot psrt of summer…looks like ur almost there
Now that I know what has to come off to install the headers with the engine in the car I will gladly install headers for anybody else that is local to me. Even for half what shops like RAI charge.
It is hot and muggy already outside here. The past three days have sucked since it has been 90 degrees. At least I will be familiar with driving the car by the time it cools off in September and October.
