Regarding Jnaut, I have no idea who he is, and I am very tactfully trying to verify that he is what I’m looking for in a mediator. Sorry, but I don’t give my money to random people on the internet, nor do I put people in positions that require objectivity without verifying their objectivity (could you imagine what would happen if I put Justincredible as the mediator :o). I’m not sure why you’re butthurt about it.
I have faith that you and basically everyone else reading this thread is intelligent enough to clearly see that the reason why faw asked if my car was running 4 times was so that he could try to justify this self-appointed timeline in hopes to either run a damaged car or to back out of the challenge all-together. He knew beforehand that my car is currently my daily driver with a damaged transmission (running, limping, walking, whatever you feel like terming it, it’s all semantics). The challenge has never been about the timeframe, it’s about the performance. If one re-reads the actual challenge I made, it explicitly states a timeframe of when my car is together and in good track-running form (I’ll re-post the original challenge below for reference.)
As I said before, just as I have no intent to run my car damaged, I have zero desire to see a run from FAW where he does anything other than go all-out without any excuses. ‘Nut up or shut up’ most definitely doesn’t mean, ‘go get to the track as fast as you can to make a run that doesn’t show anything conclusive about your car and is already full of excuses before you go.’ ‘Nut up or shut up’ coming from me means ‘accept the challenge that I put before you where there can be no excuses, where you will be required to be held accountable and where there are penalties for not following through on your word.’ In order to call someone’s bluff, you have to accept their challenge. Mu has not accepted the challenge, and will not do so by randomly running next week with no agreement, no money on the line, a checklist of excuses, and no accountability.
Read below for my challenge.
"I don’t recall specifically saying that my car will be faster, though I wouldn’t doubt that you’re one of maybe two people I’ve ever said that to.
I’ll stick by it though, and I’ll make you a wager that when my car is COMPLETELY done (meaning ALL of my accessories installed, motor broken in, tune dialed in, etc), that I’ll run a faster E/T in the quarter than you. We won’t ever be able to meet up in person, and dynos don’t mean anything, so E/T seems the most logical. Let’s say $75 via paypal to the winner? I’m willing to risk that much to make things interesting on the forums, as it won’t break the bank for either of us, and I’m willing to pay that in case I blow up my tranny or something and I can’t make a pass after we both agree on the wager. The loser would also have to admit that the other car is faster and can’t complain about the mods/weight/gas/whatever else of the car. It would simply be one car’s E/T against the other car’s E/T, period.
I would be willing to put a time limit on it too (like some date next summer or something), after I get a little further along with my car actually running and being broken in, etc. If you accept, we would have an impartial 3rd party hold both of our money in his paypal (like escrow), to disperse to the winner. Also, there would have to be proof by the slip, an uncut video of the pass with the car pulling back around after the pass (like the JHM 1/4mi video), and preferably an eyewitness (though a video will do). I know you’re a street racer, and you like to have high 1/4 mi times being public, so we could keep the video and times private if need be (though the winner will be announced publicly).
You have the advantage in many areas: you’re at sea level while I’m far from it, you’re running a MUCH larger turbo setup, you’re running standalone, your car is already a piece of crap so you probably don’t have any qualms about removing a bunch of stuff for weight savings (if you haven’t already), and I’m not going to be running meth (I don’t remember if you are or not). Time for you to put up Mu
If you’d rather not accept the wager, that’s fine too, you just can’t say your car is faster than mine (though you can continue to troll my threads otherwise if you want, I really don’t care). This offer is more for entertainment than a real grudge. I don’t care about your car, and I didn’t build my car to race on the drag strip anyways. I built it for a daily driver and the road course. Anywho, man up Mu!
What do you guys think of this challenge? Let’s make it happen!"
