Can you tell me why it’s not accurate? That’s all I’m asking. I’m not disagreeing with anyone and I do understand the importance of elevation change.
I compare MY runs to MY OWN times and I always start at the same location. So, while my times may not be comparable to the rest of the world given any elevation changes, is the information I see on the screen accurate to me? If not, why? What’s different?
The VW Golf R and Audi S3 are nearly identical. I also started my post with “Not quarter mile but thought I would share what the Golf R stage III guys are doing.”
I can’t explain why the screen is inaccurate. I can just complain about it I generally ignore the screen anyway. It doesn’t reveal the elevation (huge factor) and it doesn’t tell the truth about the times…so it’s irrelevant to me frankly. If I were a multi million dollar tuning company…and wanted a performance test for my cars without driving 90 minutes to the dragstrip, I think I would shell out for a working PBOX rather than insisting on using the screen. It’s $500…and I bet you can sell the old one for $300.
FYI the older ones can only use SD cards, not SDHC cards. Maybe that’s your problem?
If you are comparing YOUR times to YOUR times (not sure the need for caps) that’s great. However…
you are not comparing anything to anything, since you never posted any ‘before’ times
you are posting VW info on an Audi forum
you are posting pbox info in a 1/4 mile thread
Don’t be surprised when guys are confused. As for the relevance of it being ‘S3 equivalent’ that’s not helping 96% of us since the S3 isn’t sold where 96% of us live.
p.s. Are you taking your Stage 2 S4 to the dragstrip any time soon? Or the S7? Or the S8? Would love to see info on this armada of cars you guys have amassed.
x2 on the s7 and s8 performance info… No need to jump on anyone for posting a golf-r time. If I end up getting one myself I’ll make sure to spam this thread with vw times
If the screen says 8.0 seconds 62-124 mph, if I look at the data, will 62 mph to 124 mph = 8.0 seconds? If not, where are the discrepancies? Rounding on the first decimal place?
I’ve tried an SD card. It still doesn’t work.

Probably not.

Maybe on these. Probably once software is finished.

Not sure what it will say on the file…however my experience…and Tsivas’ experience, has been that the screen is ‘optimistic’ if you would. For example, auditurd ran his dad’s car and the screen showed 3.6 seconds 0-60 mph. That sounds a bit optimistic for a car that was cutting modest 60 foot times. Reviewing the file it showed he went 3.9 seconds I believe. Tsivas can chime in.
that’s a bummer…was hoping it was the SD vs. SDHC thing
too bad…would have been a chance for a B8 S4 MT6 car to FINALLY beat the two RS4 guys who ran 12.2 and 12.4 with not even a tune
Just a housekeeping entry from another post, just so we have another GIAC time on there. Although, I wonder if the reason it’s not there is because we only have one timeslip, rather than two?
why, in case retarded people come to view the thread?
I think everyone knows what that means. It’s noted on the quartermile list that there’s a downpipes/catback column. It’s also noted early in this thread what that would be describing.
I don’t understand…what assumptions might people make?
They see that a B5 S4 has 3" catless/3.5" single
If anyone doesn’t know what 3" catless means, they’re not likely to
a) be on this web page in the first place
b) care what downpipes are anyway
I don’t think anyone is signing on, and saying ‘Was it a 3" rocketbooster and the owner prefers dogs?’. I just think you want to say ‘you’re wrong’ about something to me. Fine, say away. You showed me.
