RS4 Supercharger Argument

I’ve been for a ride in the car from the video, and I have to say, for the first time EVER in a B7RS4, I was impressed. The car feels violently fast, and sounds incredible.

What other rs4s have you been in? And what other cars impress you? I have to say most k04 b5 s4s aren’t as fast as the modified na rs4s, let alone the supercharged ones. Just trying to gauge your impression meter. The all motor cars just come on steady whereas the boosted b5 cars have that hit.

I’ve been in RS4’s ranging from dead stock, to exhaust/tune, and obviously the supercharged car.

As for vehicles that impress me I’ve driven/been in? How about 1100whp diesel trucks that run 10’s? Tweets B5, Killers B5, whipple’d Terminators, 800hp E55’s, and a Kia Rio with a KN drop in filter with 89oct in it.

It’s true man, I run the quarter mile list here and watch all the times on all the forums. I should have qualified it with quarter mile times. You know…the global standard acceleration test.

Sure a well sorted stage three car would crush an rs4 but most of them today are miles from sorted. Here’s a question… Any of the amd tial cars ever run quicker than 12.26? Or 12.28? 12.29? It’s nuts. For whatever reason the stage three cars these days are just not really cutting it.

A few points about blowerrs…c-fuge and twin screw roots have different profiles. Generally speaking roots type bloers have a larger drag rsisitance and drive loss then the c-fuge…looking at the rpm the rs4 is spun too you also need to look more careful at the untis that are being used

When you talk trap the story changes sir. Not a lot of stage 3s trap slower than those…

Well, sort of. Anyway last time I checked the winner of the race crosses the finish line first, and doesn’t cling to how well they were about to do if the race was longer.

Most of the stage three cars I see trap in the 110-114 range. Again, most of. Not the absolute fastest. There are a bunch of rs4s trapping 110-113.9 all motor. Hell my stock rs4 trapped 110 once. This is more of a comment on how bad the b5 world is now really than any kind of accomplishment for the rs4.

You need to actually get out to the dragstrip more tweets. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows for the stage three b5 guys.

Breaking News: We have some performance info from AMD!

Well…sort of. They claim it is half a second faster from 3000-8000 than the APR supercharger. So it’s 60 or so RPM/second quicker. Not that great really vs. a TVSr1320 on pump.

They have also confirmed that they’re not going to find the limits of the motor…which makes sense since they use customer cars as their testbed.

^^^that’s the long winded way of saying we can’t afford to put our money where our (big) mouth is. So we put our customer’s money where our (big) mouth is.

Further, they’ve claimed a half dozen times in an argument thread on quattrofail that their kit is available and ‘on the market’…although the reports we get from potential customers are that there are still loads of delays and excuses. Pretty much a failboat all around. Lots of the usual fanboys of AMD chiming in with ‘I’ve ridden in this car and it feels fast!’ . Pretty lame. They really need to grow up and become a big boy tuning company already.

First, I know this is all pretty anecdotal and may be of no value to this board…but then again maybe it will be.

I rode in the Car #1 AMD SC’d car at The Ridge Motorsports Park yesterday. I’ve never rode in an APR SC’d car, so I can’t compare in those terms. I can say that the experience “felt” as fast as ride alongs in a V10 R8s I’ve been in. At the end of the front stretch the speedo was in the 150mph zone. I was hitting 120…maybe could have hit 130 if I had been confident enough to push it (I’m very novice compared to other driver)

Car was definitely fast. Turn 2-3 at TRMP are pretty uphill and in my car it is a 3rd gear spot. He took those turns in 4th a few laps and 3rd a few laps. Surprisingly, there was no noticeable difference. My car would have lugged BAD in 4th.

Final bit of anecdotal info: we chased down and passed a TTRS in pretty short order. Both drivers are ACNW Instructors…who knows if they are even in skill or not…but we caught it in under a lap.

It was a lot of fun and the car was definitely fast. I have no plans on getting one (I have enough power and need to get better at driving) thought I would share.

the 1900 should be awesome for these cars. Especially top end. Monstrous.

Hopefully the tune doesn’t hold it back where we traditionally drive these cars (0-100)…and where EPL tuning has traditionally run into trouble.

How many cars are supercharged now? Did that guy with the Avus Ti car finally get his kit on? RS4PER or something? He was supposed to get it back in November, but kept getting delayed. I think he had downpipes first (AMD made exhaust as well)

p.s. don’t forget the stock TTRS is not really a monster. A JHM tuned/exhaust RS4 would sit door handle to door handle with a stock TTRS at any discipline (dragrace, road course, whatever you like other than maybe sliding under low barriers). Also, an R8 V10 would have it’s hands full with an APR RS4. I would imagine a 1900 kit making 500 whp should RAPE an R8 V10. The TTS RS4 for example is faster than any R8, including the GT.

Hopefully he gets it out to a dragstrip or puts a pbox on from 0-100 or something so we can do some stock vs. supercharged comparisons like the APR and TTS kits have. Since we know AMD doesn’t own an RS4, it will mean they will (again) lean heavily on their customers for testing…which always turns into a riot lol.
