Arin vs. Snowtrooper & JonathanC with some gibsonl idiocy and the return of ArthurPE (art of engineering)

Following beem’s link also brought me here: http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4/msgs/23617.phtml

where is snow trooper? Just saw Jason amd

And who is jprice? Seems like he is slightly out to lunch. Overtly negative towards Apr for no reason. Clearly promoting the AMD ghost kit.

I don’t get why people have their favourite tuner and can’t be happy when other kits or parts come out that look promising. I love jhm but I will always cheer for anyone who is doing it right and kicking ass.

I used to kick the shit out of Apr when I thought they were fucking up (mediocre 4.2 parts, bad results from the blower kit, hiding from the facts) for example but now that they have their shit together I stick up for them all over. Same with the tts boys.

I will always call out failure too.

I don’t get why you wouldn’t? Why would you shit on stuff that works? Why would you not call out failure?

^^ Snow Trooper is in there sniping away. TBH I get Arin’s point on QW. Aviva Instruments sells a shoe! But he is talking to boneheads over there.

Aviva Instruments is a one man shop run out of his house. The half assed website is typical. It’s always hosting bullshit and pipe dreams. A year ago it said they were making 600 or 650 hp with the kit on the RS4, written like a third party press article about the kit. Problem is it was all made up, and was written by the fucking guy jonathan cohen himself. I asked him about it and he then deleted that. It’s really fucking weird. Snow Trooper loves to big the guy up, but let’s get real here.

Those guys are just really small potatotes. Not to say they can’t make good parts (although I haven’t seen anything impressive other than a Tial 770 car with who knows what thrown at it and loads of top end that basically sucks below 100 mph or when you need to use more than one gear). But how they can just roundly have a go at APR is beyond me. A quattrofail customer asked about the APR TVSr1740 kit for the RS5, and the AMD/AVIVA 2 man show (AMD is a one man show as well…jason) start going nuts, along with jprice, AMD fanboy number one, and a couple of the usual suspects. I was waiting for sektorM7 to post in that thread…then I remembered that jonathan and jason were already posting under their own name. They fool fucking nobody. Neither does tuning your mom…another faggot’s username they use when they want to say mean things but not be held accountable.

Best part is that jason @ amd clearly is terrified of engaging any discussion with anyone who is armed with any knowledge. He keeps saying the TVS1900 is THE choice for the RS4. Based on what ? He answers with nothing. I guess jonathan cohen told him so, and since Jonathan cohen designed tial turbos (the 12 second superstars) he knows everything?

Really small potatoes crap.

-Guy buys $5,000 awd car
-Guy goes offroading in said car and busts front bumper
-Audizine goes apeshit

It’s so fucking high school over there. Kids act like life is over because mud got on the car and the bumper cracked. They act like the car is a classic like a 993 turbo lol. BFD. It’s a few hundred bucks to fix on a car that can be traded for five months rent plus an xbox. He said its the most fun he’s ever had in the car. People pay a few hundred bucks for a day at a road course.

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=528368

The first week I had my B5 S4, I was so stoked and decided to have my first quattro experience by driving up two storeys of grass between a couple parking lots…so much turf and mud wedged under the car, it took forever to get it out. Can’t say I’d do that in the B8.

It amazes me how people complain about nothing…if the JHM tune felt exactly like stock…people would bitch, but if it makes the car more powerful and the throttle is more sensitive…people bitch.

These fuckers just need to learn how to drive!

http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/528917-JHM-Tune-Way-too-touchy-first-gear-Hate-it-Anyone-feel-the-same-or-disagree

Lol that thread is funny, jhm uses a 1:1 ratio, it’s how the throttle should feel. One guy said he already bought the tune just isn’t sure if he wants to put it on? hahahaha.

boo hoo my car is faster and I’m not used to it.

Actually the guy who hasn’t put the tune on yet wants to do back to back drag strip visits to compare. I think that is an awesome idea, although he should go a few times stock to improve on his drag strip skills, otherwise his results may show the tune and his driving skills improvements.

The part that pisses me off is him saying that if he doesn’t like it he will flash back to stock…retards

I was trying to be nice to that guy cause he’s local to me, but it’s pretty clear he can’t drive for shit. Took me all of an hour to adapt to my new throttle response when I tuned my car last week.

He’s also the same guy that bitched that his FI fullback with cats and 8" resonators was too loud and hurt his ears.

^^^ was this the same guy that made reference to the db levels being too high…

Pretty funny yet such a weak ass excuse, perfect candidate for something battery operated. I think a Prius would be suitable.

What do fuckers expect when you open up a V8 exhaust?? Someone in that thread had an integra in their garage…so go figure a V8 S4 is totally different to them.

Yes, that’s him.

Nice guy. I had sold my fast intentions and JHM downpipes to him last year, but then I had to unsell them to him when the guy who bought my car decided he wanted to keep them on.

I can see where he’s coming from…however I don’t understand his problem.

The story I ALWAYS tell (and you’re about to hear again) is this

when I first got tuned in Detroit in Feb 2010, I drove the car from the shop back to my hotel, and was like ‘WHAT THE FUCK HAVE I DONE!!!’ My silky smoothe car was all of a sudden trying to kill me. The drone made my ears want to bleed, and the throttle response made me look like a fucking retard, so all I could do was go low speeds in big gears to avoid bucking the car like a rookie driver. Of course, that put me in the drone zone around 1000-2000 RPM.

JHM’s tuner the next day said ‘let’s go for a drive in your car and make sure everything is ok’. So we did

He hooked his VAGCOM cable up and off we went with me driving.

So I asked him about drone, and he showed me…don’t get on the throttle in 5th gear at 1500 RPM and you’re ok. If you’re going through the drone zone RPMs, just go easy on throttle and you won’t get drone.

So I asked him about the bucky throttle…felt like 10% = 90% now. He said ‘ok, let’s log throttle while we drive’.

He told me ‘give me what you think is 25% and hold it’…so I did. He showed me the laptop and it was ticking along at 22-26%.
He told me ‘give me what you think is 50% and hold it’…so I did. He showed me the laptop and it was ticking along at 46-52%.
He told me ‘give me what you think is 75%’…and you can guess the rest. BANG ON.

If you do the above test on a stock car, 25% pedal position gives you like 10%. 50% gives you like 30%. 75% gives you like 100%. It’s fucked.

JHM turns the throttle into drive by cable. It just reminds you how

a) shitty the stock tune is, and how it’s written for people who can afford $65,000 cars (a.k.a. 60 year old fat men)
b) bad you are at modulating the throttle.

The best trick to deal with the throttle in 1st gear when starting or going through a parking garage at low speeds…is to wedge the right edge of your right foot up against the right side of the footwell, so it’s ‘rooted’…and isn’t bobbing up and down.

If you free float your foot, you’ll hit the pedal too hard…then the car lurches…then you fall back…then you let off the gas…then you fall forward…then you hit the gas hard again…then the car lurches…then you fall back.

It’s as simple as this for anyone with reasonable driving skill. You just have to know what you’re doing. Some people are terrible at this stuff and for them, maybe a tiptronic or DSG is the solution.

Totally confused. I doubt JHM turns the throttle from a load-table based system into a virtual drive-by-cable system…do they?

They make it a 1:1 ratio, input vs. output.

IE; if you press the pedal down 15%, the throttle opens 15%.

I’d imagine this is done in the table(s) associated with throttle pedal position input vs. throttle plate angle etc. I don’t know the terms but you get the idea.

I have to make a mental adjustment everytime I switch from the B5 back to my B7, it doesn’t take long but to hear what some of those clowns are posting is beyond me. Euro is right, it’s a v8 for crying out loud, what a bunch of girls.

Normally you make a load request with the accelerator pedal, and the load request translates to a throttle angle based on accelerator (edit) position, MAF, MAP, etc. It’s unlikely JHM made the throttle angle track directly with the accelerator?

Not true, I’m hating on you right now.

Is this guy for real???
